This Saturday’s long awaited David Gilmour concert, which is being held on pl. Plac Wolności in front of the National Forum Of Music, will be broadcast live on TVP2 and TVP Rozrywka.
A sell out crowd of 20,000 people will make their way to the city centre for the gig, which is being organised as part of Wroclaw’s European Capital Of Culture programme.
The National Forum Of Music’s 30 piece Wroclaw Philharmonic orchestra, under the baton of Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner, will join Gilmour on stage to create a truly unique night on the ‘Rattle That Lock’ tour. Another special guest on the night is Leszek Możdżer, a renowned pianist and the artistic director of the Jazz On The Odra Festival.
Tickets for the concert controversially sold out just a few hours after they had been put on sale without any prior announcement, a situation that allowed professional touts to quickly snap up even more tickets than normal. A quick look on the website Viagogo reveals tickets are being sold for up to three times their face value, so fans who missed out on the public sale are having to dig deep in order to witness this special concert in the flesh.
Understandably, many upset have fans have been priced out of attending the gig. They will nonetheless be able to follow the concert from the comfort of their sofas via a live broadcast on public tv, which airs on TVP2 at 21.45 this Saturday. At 23.10 coverage of the gig will then switch to TVP Rozrywka.
Watching on tv is obviously no substitute for being in the audience, but at least everybody will now be able to follow what is going on during this prominent highlight of Wroclaw 2016.
