Physicist Hawking Did Pink Floyd A Huge Favor – And It Wasn’t The First Time

Pink Floyd’s “Keep Talkin’”

We’re just days faraway from the passing of theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking. As if it needed to be stated, Hawking kicked open an uncountable amount of doorways on the planet of science. His thoughts was legendary and led to the discovery of more scientific developments than we are able to even count. He was a scientific legend, pure and simple. Not only that, but his work had great influence on the world of classic rock, so much so that Pink Floyd decided to benefit from it and use it for 2 of their tracks!

Back in 2014, The Band actually used a voice-sample from a Hawking speech for the track “Talkin’ Hawkin’” on their album ‘Endless River’. What makes this much more fascinating is the truth that apparently, this wasn’t even the first time that Hawking’s voice sample was used for Pink Floyd’s sound. Again in 1994, that same voice sample was used for their tune “Keep Talkin’”.

The Band have said that “Talkin’ Hawkin’” isn’t a sequel to “Keep Talkin’”.

It is really wonderful that Stephen Hawking’s legacy and work were able to garner the attention of the classic rock community. Not only is it fascinating, it is extremely inspiring and it is something that we as classic rock followers ought to all embrace. RIP Stephen Hawking, you’ll be missed!
